Nike + GPS app

Among the hundreds of thousands of i phone apps in the market today, one app caught my attention and discerning taste.  The Nike + GPS app.  As a matter of fact, this app is the very first "paid" app I bought from i tunes app store.  Even if there are free apps with similar functions available in the app store, I did not hesitate to get a paid app. With this app, one would be encouraged to run as it tracks a runner's progress such as distance, pace and calories burned.  You will also receive a voice notice informing you of your current pace and distance covered every kilometer (which can be set or adjusted).  It also has a function called "Callenge Me" to improve on your previous run in terms of distance, time and pace.  You can also beat your best record.  Choose your music and get cheers from friends on facebook.  Isn't that cool?  This app is also applicable to ipod touch.

Mizuno Wave Rider 13 Review

After reading the positive reviews about the iconic Mizuno Wave Rider, I bought a pair (Rider 13) in March 2009 as an alternate to my Adidas Adizero Aegis. I also deemed it proper to use a Mizuno shoe for the Mizuno Infinity Run event in April of 2010.  After a year, the shoe has already logged 400 kms and the midsole is still very close to its brand new shape and form.  The outer sole (X10) particularly in the heel portion has already graded, but I guess it is still good for another 400 kms or more. I have praises for the shoe's durability and I would have to say that it is one, if not, the most durable running shoe in the market today.  Give it a nice cleaning and it can still be mistaken for a new pair.

The fit hugs my feet perfectly and I did not have a blister after two 21 km. runs.  I just don't know if I would have one if I run a full marathon.  But I am not yet ready for that.  Finding time to train for the full marathon is really difficult.

Overall, Rider 13 has all the qualities I am looking for in a running shoe, durability, comfort, lightweight, and style, and price (in no particular order).  I will definitely recommend it.

Rider 14 will be out in the market soon and based on initial reviews, it is getting a good beating from those who have already one in the US.  I will be the judge of it once it is out in the PH market.

My First 21 km run

It was in December 5, 2010, the event: 2nd Quezon City International Marathon at QC Memorial Circle.  The event was my 4th after I started running in 2009.  Incidentally, the first event i joined in was the 1st QC International Marathon in which I ran the 5 km category and finished it with a time of 47 minutes.  Going back to my first half marathon event, completing the first 12 kms. was a breeze but from that moment on, fatigue and leg cramps started to come it.  Although I finished the event clocking 2 hrs and 58 minutes,  I have to say I misjudged and did not respect the distance. Why? because I completed the 15 km run of Mizuno Infinity Run in April 2010 without any problem in which I clocked 1 hr and 46 min.  I also did not train enough for the 21 km event thinking that it would also be a breeze, based on my experience during the Mizuno event.  But nevertheless, I enjoyed my first 21 km and planning to run the same distance again and hopefully beat my personal time.  The QCIM 2 event was successful, thanks to QC Government headed by Mayor Herbert Bautista, Photovendo, and Runnex.org.  I love the link (http://www.runpix.info/wrace/00/quz10/ge.php) in their hope page.  I hope you will do the same in the 3rd QCIM.
